PREAMBLE
Welcome to the ReflectX Startup Program! These Rules govern your participation as an individual or entity in the program. By entering the Program, you agree to abide by these terms and conditions throughout your association with ReflectX, both during and after the program. All individuals and teams participating in the program shall be referred to as “ReflectX Participants” or “Participants”.
ENTRY
- To participate, submit your application through the ReflectX website.
- There is no entry fee for the program.
- Each ReflectX Participant can submit only one application per program cycle. Late applications will not be considered. Please refer to the key dates section for more information.
- By entering the competition, you confirm the accuracy and completeness of the information provided.
- All entries, work, and submissions must be original or used with written authorization from others, clearly identified in the submission. ReflectX reserves the right to disqualify entries that infringe on the intellectual property rights of others.
- Any changes to the team, location, or entity’s name after the application submission or selection as a finalist must be communicated to the ReflectX team for approval.
- All finalist teams will be listed on the ReflectX website, including information about their status and general details about the startup.
- After the competition, finalists are required to cooperate with the ReflectX team for follow-up activities, such as surveys, phone calls, and community engagement. ReflectX may feature finalists on its social media platforms.
ELIGIBILITY
- To enter the ReflectX competition, participants must meet the eligibility criteria specified in these Rules and on the competition’s website.
- ReflectX mentors and judges are eligible to participate in the program but cannot engage in judging and mentoring activities during any program cycle in which they are participants.
- The following individuals and entities are NOT eligible to participate in a ReflectX Competition:
- Any person or entity who has previously won a cash prize in a ReflectX competition.
- Any person or entity previously disqualified from a ReflectX competition.
- Any person or entity prohibited from participating due to contractual or legal obligations to another person or entity.
- ReflectX reserves the right to exclude companies operating in industries such as adult entertainment, gambling, military, marijuana, and any other industries deemed inappropriate or contradictory to the values and goals of the competition. The decision to exclude a company will be at the sole discretion of ReflectX and is non-negotiable.
- ReflectX reserves the right to disqualify applications that do not meet the recommended guidelines, and participants may not receive feedback from the judges.
PROGRAM PROCESS
- Round 1 (Semifinals):
- Each complete and eligible application will be reviewed by at least two independent judges.
- The top 36 highest-scoring applications will advance to the semifinal round, where they will pitch to a select group of investors.
- Semifinalists will be notified via email. Failure to respond within 48 hours or provide the required information within the specified deadline will result in disqualification.
- Finalist Mentoring and Preparation:
- Finalist teams will have the opportunity to participate in online training and preparation sessions approximately two weeks before the competition.
- These sessions will cover topics such as public speaking, sales pitching, and other relevant skills.
- The exact dates and program will be communicated to the finalists closer to the competition.
- Round 2 (Finals):
- From the semifinals, the top 6 startups will be selected to advance to the final round.
- The final round will take place during the Reflect festival. The exact date and time will be announced closer to the event.
- Each finalist team will have a set time to deliver a compelling oral pitch presentation followed by a Q&A session.
- The winner will be determined based on a combination of factors and announced at the closing event.
- Detailed information about all the judges will be available on our website once their names are finalized.
Judges’ Criteria: Judges will evaluate startups based on criteria such as innovation, market potential, team, traction, feasibility, and pitch quality.
LANGUAGE
- ReflectX competitions are conducted solely in English.
- Participants must submit their applications and supporting materials in English.
- All communications with the ReflectX team and judges must be in English.
- Oral pitch presentations at the event must also be delivered in English.
- ReflectX reserves the right to disqualify any application that includes inappropriate or offensive language.
PRIZES
- ReflectX offers valuable prizes to the winners. Refer to our website for detailed prize information.
ATTENDANCE
- Finalists are required to attend all events, including mentoring, preparation, and the competition.
- Mentoring and preparation will be held virtually, while the program will be held physically in Limassol, Cyprus.
- In case physical events cannot be held due to unforeseen circumstances, they will be held virtually.
- At least one member per team (co-founder or top executive) must attend all events.
- All ReflectX Participants must be legally present in the Republic of Cyprus.
- ReflectX takes no responsibility for participants’ immigration status and is not liable for any legal or other consequences arising from a participant’s failure to comply with immigration laws or requirements
RULES OF CONDUCT
- Participants must adhere to the following rules of conduct during the ReflectX competition:
- No weapons, dangerous items, or illegal drugs are allowed on the premises.
- Participants must treat others with respect, refrain from engaging in any harassing or disrespectful behavior, and show respect for gender, race, ethnicity, sexual preference, gender identification, and culture.
- Participants should maintain an appropriate noise level, respect others, and their property.
- Participants are expected to share resources considerately and keep the premises reasonably clean.
- Alcohol consumption should be responsible.
DISQUALIFICATION
- ReflectX reserves the right to disqualify any participant at any phase of the program without notice or liability.
- Participants may be disqualified for various reasons, including breach of rules or eligibility criteria, violation of applicable laws, improper conduct, offensive behavior, or invalid answers in the application.
- Disqualification results in forfeiting any associated prizes or benefits.
- ReflectX’s decision regarding disqualification is final and binding.
LIABILITY
- ReflectX acknowledges and respects the participants’ intellectual property rights. All initiatives, technologies, and ideas submitted to the program are the sole property of the submitter, and ReflectX does not claim any proprietary rights over them.
- Personal information collected during the program will only be used for program purposes and won’t be distributed to third parties without consent.
- ReflectX is not responsible for any loss, damage, inconvenience, or disappointment suffered by participants.
- ReflectX does not endorse external linked sites and is not responsible for their content.
- ReflectX is not responsible for agreements between participants and ReflectX experts or third parties.
- In case of any dispute, ReflectX’s decision shall be final and unchallenged.
LAW
- The ReflectX program is subject to the laws of the Republic of Cyprus.
- By participating, all participants agree to comply with these laws and any other applicable regulations.
- ReflectX reserves the right to disqualify participants who violate these laws or regulations.
- Any disputes arising from or in connection with the program shall be governed by the laws of the Republic of Cyprus.
UPDATE
- ReflectX reserves the right to amend the rules throughout the competition.
- Participants are responsible for complying with any changes.
- Updates or changes to the rules will be posted on the ReflectX website, and participants will be notified via email.
- In case of conflict between these Rules and information on the website, these Rules shall prevail.
